Having a smartwatch gives you the ability to send simple messages to people right from your wrist. This is because you can send preset responses to text messages. However, what if you want to send a message that can’t be summed up in a quick reply? Well, according to 9To5Google, the Google Messages Wear OS app will let you send voice memos.

Google is rolling out more apps and updates to Wear OS, which only makes the platform that much better. Not too long ago, the company brought the Gmail app to Wear OS. This way, you can check your emails without needing to open your phone. You can download it now if you have the proper device.

Google Messages for Wear OS will be able to send voice memos

This feature was announced last month, and now it’s making its way to users. When you’re in a conversation, you’ll see three options on the screen for responses: the emoji, microphone, and keyboard button. When you’d tap on the microphone button, you’d enter voice-to-text mode and start voice dictation.

After the change, you’ll see two buttons appear when you tap on the microphone button, you’ll see a Voice message and a Voice to text button appear. Once you tap on the first option, you’ll start recording your voice memo.

While recording, you’ll see a circular bar around the edge of the screen slowly fill. Once your recording reaches 59 seconds, it will and. After that, you’ll have the ability to send it or cancel it. If you’re worried that your recording sounded weird, don’t be; you’ll be able to listen to your recording right on the watch. This is good, most people don’t want to send their messages before reviewing.

If you want to try out this feature, it was found on version 20231010_01_RC00 of the beta. So, if you don’t see this just yet for your app, you’re going to have to wait a little longer.
