Snapchat is reportedly working on a family subscription plan, similar to what’s available on Apple Music, or Spotify. This comes after folks at Android Authority performed an APK teardown of the app’s latest beta version. The internal codes hint at an upcoming feature hidden within, a friends and family plan.

Snapchat Friends & Family Subscription Plan

Snapchat’s latest beta version for Android (v12.61.0.45) includes a string that hints at the company’s next plans. The plan would allow users to share their Snapchat Plus subscription with friends and family members

It is not yet clear how much the family plan would cost, but it is likely to be more expensive than the individual subscription but cheaper than if each family member purchased a subscription separately. The maximum number of participants in a family plan is also unknown, at the moment.

Snapchat friends & family subscription plan would be a welcome addition to Snapchat Plus, as it would allow families and groups of friends to save money on the service. In addition to its plethora of other features, Snapchat also recently unveiled a ChatGPT-based My AI chatbot.

Snapchat already has a Premium subscription

Notably, Snapchat offers a premium subscription currently with features like the ability to pin your best friend to the top, see who replayed your stories, free Snapstreak restore, and more.

It comes at $3.99 per month for individual subscribers. Moreover, there are six-month and annual plans available at $21.99 and $39.99, respectively.

Currently, Snapchat allows users to gift 12 months of Snapchat Plus to friends who are not subscribed. However, gifts are a one-time purchase and not a recurring subscription. The family plan, on the other hand, would be a more group subscription.

The family subscription plan is still under development. Therefore, it is not clear when it will be released to the public. However, the discovery of this feature in the code of the latest beta version suggests that it is close to launch. Hence, possibly in the coming updates.
