Sony is branching out into the PC gaming earbuds market with the newly announced INZONE Buds. These are packed with industry-leading battery life for the device category and Sony says they were designed to help give gamers a competitive advantage.

Coming in black and white colorways, the INZONE Buds feature both active noise cancellation and ambient sound mode. So you can block everyone out when you want to focus on the game but just as easily let sound in when you want to talk. These might seem like a weird product release given Sony already has a pair of PlayStation wireless earbuds on the way. But Sony has told us that the two products are geared towards different consumers.

Sony’s PlayStation earbuds were designed for PS5. But they’ll also work for the upcoming PlayStation Portal handheld, and they work with PC too. But while the INZONE Buds are also earbuds designed for gaming, they’re aimed squarely at the PC gaming market. They also work with PS5 and mobile devices. But PC is the target according to Sony. It’s a big reason Sony focused on 360-degree spatial audio for the earbuds.

Sony wanted to deliver a pair of earbuds to PC gamers that didn’t compromise on sound quality. It wanted gamers to still have that competitive edge. And the INZONE Buds are supposed to deliver that. Sony says they allow gamers to hear the direction and distance of opponents for better in-game awareness. They also provide a battery life of up to 12 hours or up to 24 with the charging case. These will retail for $199 and they officially launch on October 15.

In addition to the INZONE Buds, Sony has also announced the new INZONE H5 headset which take the place of the INZONE H7. These have a battery life of up to 28 hours on a single charge and also feature the 360-degree spatial sound. Since this is an over-ear headset there’s also a flip-to-mute microphone for chat, and cushioned earpads for comfort. These will retail for $149.99 and they will also be available on October 15. They come in black and white colorways as well. There’s also a new black colorway of the INZONE H9
